ABOUT US
The High-Altitude Club was born from a personal need I recognized in 2016 for my own daughter. As I embarked on the homeschooling journey, I saw the importance of not only providing a solid academic foundation but also nurturing social skills, emotional development, and practical life experiences. My goal was to create a safe, supportive environment where children could thrive both intellectually and socially.
As a homeschooling mother of three, I quickly realized that each child has unique needs, and I wanted a program that would cater to them holistically. I envisioned an educational experience that went beyond traditional learning – one that fostered emotional growth, social interactions, and real-world skills, all while ensuring the security and care every child deserves.
From these early beginnings, the idea for The High-Altitude Club took flight. Over time, it evolved through planning, personal experience, and invaluable feedback from families. What started as a solution for my children became a passion for creating an enriching, comprehensive program for others. Today, The High-Altitude Club is a community where children can grow, learn, and build lifelong skills in a nurturing and engaging environment.
Our mission is simple: to provide a well-rounded educational experience that supports every aspect of a child’s development. We believe in fostering a love of learning, curiosity, and joy in every child who joins our community.
MEET THE OWNER
Hello! I’m Whitney Shorts, and I’m so happy you’re here. I’m a devoted wife and mom of three amazing children, and homeschooling has been one of the greatest joys of my life. With over 9 years of homeschooling experience and more than a decade in child care and early childhood education, my heart truly comes alive when I’m teaching, learning, and supporting families.
Over the years, I’ve had the joy of starting and leading homeschool co-ops and group events, creating spaces where children can learn, grow, and build meaningful friendships. I love bringing people together—planning classes, field trips, special events, and moments that make learning fun, memorable, and full of connection.
Outside of the classroom, I delight in life’s simple beauties—sunsets, flowers, baby animals, and cozy family movie nights. I also genuinely enjoy volunteering and giving back, which reflects the heart behind everything I do: serving others with love, care, and purpose.
Through The High Altitude Program, my goal is to create a joyful, nurturing, and engaging environment where children feel encouraged, confident, and excited to learn. I look forward to walking alongside your family and creating meaningful experiences that help your child soar.
